City Table "The Ruins" part I

Ebay! Sucks, but its a great source for new stuff and wasting company time. This round I found wood 6mm ruins and buildings.

It can’t be all FW, all the time. The bastards stopped making them and they are out of site 2nd hand. Beside it would be boring.

City Table "Buildings" part I

Now, now y’all think I have been sitting around. Another Epic city table failure. Ha!

                    I been painting.

The FW church! The roof needs its final highlight of green. The upper or stained glass looking windows I am pretty much happy with. The lower ones will be a blue/black. I finished the inset statues on the front two towers. Also the flat roof was blocked in.

Forge World Cathedral

Creating two buildings with my 3 year old. She has an eye for rubble placement. Can’t tell you why but her work is good enough.
Both have the same foot print as the tank factory. The standard FW building and the tank factory’s foot print will allow for a different city each time. As none of the building will be mount to the board itself.
It is amazing what LN2 and a needle gun does to resin. (I would practice on some BS pieces you have laying around. Also be very comfortable with LN2 before you even think of touching the stuff. Very bad, unrepairable shit can happen to you if it TOUCHES YOU!) The first building got just a very little rested on top. The other 3 well, they were submerged.

The base is cork with plasticard layering the top and forming the walls. The small little boxes will have trees in them in the end.

The rubble between the ruins is a layering process. To be completely organic, I will be building upon each prior layer of rubble. In the past, I would have back filled with green stuff or clay. It never ever truly looked real. New technique.

Desert hills and palm trees

I will use these hills for 20 and 6mm. There was a dude running a game at Historicon with these. Great product placement! The table looked the balls. I know at once I had to get some. Of course the finished product was crazy priced. I quickly determined I could do better than they did for about 45% of the finished items cost. I bought the bear resin and straight up stole some sand from the kiddy box.

These dudes took about 3 hours total. Including washing to sealing. Easy project to bang out while waiting on other thing to dry.

The palm trees are for 6mm Epic. They are actually 3mm in scale, but fit right in, scale most be off. Made in Poland, by Oddzial Osmy s.c. The trees come 30 to a box. There is a lot, lot of flash. The bases are from the same company that did the hills. Being deep into a bottle of scotch I can not recall the name. I snatched up 4 boxes. What you see is one box.
Easy to paint up. Color spray the trunks, 2 tone spray the leafs, sand box sand and done.

Dark Angels and Space Wolves

More half finished projects from the painting table. The DAs were only primed. The wolves just needed basing.

           Assault Wolves

Dark Angels Project
Total Points Painted: 1425

DA Land Raiders. Reb flag, the voice, cypher’s dirt tricks again, or maybe the fallen have invaded my paint table.

           Current EA drop pods

          Predators

          A few Dreads

          More Predators

            Some Italian DAs

           Plasma Heavies DAs. AHHHHhhhhhhhh buddy

20mm FoF US and terrain items

I really truly need to finish shit and clear out some room. One selling off old BS on fee bay and crushing almost done projects.
These all were knock about the painting table. Some needed basing. Others finishing touches.

Contractors

Swift boat operators

Riverron operators

“SandS” Trucks. Sweet pieces. I got just about every one SandS makes. These are the first two off the painting table.

City Table V

Roads………….Holy cow……….roads. A crazy drinking monkey told me I would need more road tiles then any crazy monkey would ever want. Yeah yeah i said, I got me plenty. Well he was right. 200 beans and 2 days later SmoothOn to the rescue. Screw you FW, if you sold the dam things, I would not be wasting me good time.

I initially planned on mounting a selection of tiles to plexi with white glue. What a mess! Two days of bull docking around got me no where with the white.

I ran down to CVS for some old school rubber glue. The shit your mates were sniffing in 8th grade. It will get ya high, but attaches roads to plexi like it was its sole job.

Then right on to the lego tactical ops. I rubber glued them down too. Then lined it out with clay, to stop any leaks.

Mold release. There is nothing worse than digging your master out of rubber. Two light coats and one high with an after brushing.

12oz of each part A and B. Total guess! But you’ll notice I selected the 60. With the extra pot time, you can add more on top if you screwed the volume/amount guess. Also it allows for extra mixing and time for the bubbles to pop up to the surface.
I also use an unconventional tool. I hold a vibrating dick to the outside of the blocks and rub it along the plexi. I believe this helps the bubbles float to the top.
After curing for 20 hours. De-mold time. It need some cleaning up, but I am very happy.

I will have to make at least two more molds. Than I should be able to pour out enough roads to cover two GW realms of battle boards. Plus do some interesting cuts and angles with the roads throughout the city.

RF & F Part 1

Its not like I don’t have enough projects going. Epic city table, FoF, Zombies, Colonials, and M&T. Why not start 15mm Regimetial Fire and Fury too. Well I always play it at the HMGS cons. I have a great time and it would be easy to teach others how to play. The plan is to buy most of it. GeoHex for terrain, and ebay or flee market entire armies.

First go around I picked up painted 15s at 20 cents a dude. They just needed so love and rebasing. It took forever. In that time space I gobbled up more in the same state. This is going to take forever. I should have bloodly well commissioned the whole project.

Anyhow these are the first two units. 8 Stands each. The North got a CMD stand in there. But for the most part I will be focusing on INF stands.

City Table IV

The road tiles leading up to the Acropolis were changed out to the ruined road tiles. I did this because the tiles were smaller and allowed for more flexibility in laying down the road. Also the original idea of pinning the tile down while they dried with magnets caused them to shift position.

For the road bed Pre-mixed grout was used. I am comfortable using it, its water based, long dry time, and looks like sand when dried. Besides I am sticking down tiles.
Bonus when pressing the tiles down into the grout, the grout fills the gap between each tile.

The completed up hill road. The last tile lifted or flexed off the hill top as it dried. I don’t know exactly how I will get it back down. I think my two best options are to; One heat it, glue it, and hold it down with magnets. Two score the top, cut out some of the road bed, and reattach it.

While things were drying, I began working on the traffic circle’s center piece. I took a light house base from some ship steam punk game and the DA from the box set. Both were ebay goodies. The DA was sprayed dark green. Then hit from an angle with light green. The base is not attached and both still need work.

And I was dicking around with this guy again. Some days I hate painting him and others are a joy. But its a battle just to start up.
