AdeptiCon 2015 Terrain packing up part 3

After a weekend to visit family. There are only 3 nights left to pack up. And still so much to do.

The GW ruins. Better than the card board box they were originally stored in. Only 3 were damaged. The new box is a work in progress. It needs a more secure layered storage. But no time for that business now.

I bought the lot as is years ago. They are nice and mounted on plywood. But all grey. I need to revisit them one week. Pick out some details. Make them fancy!

The damaged 3. One bent wall. Two with pieces busted off.

Bonus. New fancy painting stool. Love it when friends move and don’t want shit! Maybe now my ass won’t get so sore painting for hours.

AdeptiCon 2015 Terrain packing part 2

Packing up the Forge World buildings. I should have enough pieces to cover 1.5 tables. After this collecting and packing up the forest, rivers, and GW ruins.

A mixed bag of FW, MDF, and other resin pieces.

Some custom pieces from the city table, MDF, and a building from Greg’s Lab. He has very nice building panels. Now he has roofs available. (didn’t exist when I built this one) You can find his excellent line here; Gregster’s Lab in 6mm

My custom FW Cathedral transport system.

A piece for the Epic table.

Also located all the buildings that got chipped in the last traveling road show.

Found the pumping station and pipes for the desert table.

With under 7 days to go. A working single dad with little time. There will be some late nights. I still need to bang out the Pred and Vinnie. The both Fell Blades needs to be highlighted. All the armor has been attached to a base and flocked. Paint the base edges and a final seal coat.
This was the first army ever painted for my return to epic. Some units were recovered from past run ins with Epic, in all the ancient editions. It needs up dating. I may try and pick out some details in black and red. Just to break up the yellow and tie the army together.

Then there is the packing. I am bring most the terrain. The GW ruins, my desert table, the forest and hills, the river, and all the FW buildings. The GW ruin and desert stuff will most likely support two tables each.
Lastly will be the girl and dog. I will drop them off on my way. And my army, prize support, cooler, beer, and cloths.

AdeptiCon 2015 Terrain pack up

Packing up the desert table. I should have enough pieces to cover 2 tables. There are still pieces to find, like the pumping station and pipes.

Desert Table

3 more hills buried.

You will notice my river sections and water under the bridges is not painted. I am not lazy. These terrain pieces pull extra duty. I use them as wadi for 20mm colonial, irrigation ditches for 20mm FoF, and in Epic. My desert terrain gets to see the most action.

The adobe houses are 10mm. Still workable for 6mm. The burned out cars are 20mm FoF. They will hitch along. Otherwise I won’t remember where I put them! These palms are all metal 6mm.

World Eaters Update

I have not forgotten you. Cold Wars and AdeptiCon have back burner the World Eater project. Progress has been extremely slow. I have been chipping away here and there.

One more Spartan. I need to establish how I will exactly do the Legion symbol. For now I will leave the door blank. Once the colors and technique is nailed down. I will bang the lot out.

And a detachment’s worth of Rhinos.

I cleaned one up. And I don’t like it. It does not feel World Eater-ish to me. Too clean, too new. I image them brutally fight and driving them and their selves to shit.

My IFs all sleeping nicely in their trays. I have the two Fell Blades and Achilles ready to go. Tonight I will find another Vinnie and LasCannon Pred.

The new editions I can hopefully chip away at over lunch.

World Eaters, Nothing

Everything is just as it was left. This was no surprise. I knew I would be in Argentina for 2 months. Just sad as I had good momentum going towards banging the WEs out this year. March will be a slow start. First is HMGS’ Cold Wars this weekend, a drill weekend, and Adepticon in two
weekends.
Zero progress. Not true. Dozer blades glued on and rhinos primed and washed.

HMGS Cold Wars Day 2

The building at the Lancaster Host was so cold yesterday, I got sick. Today I showed up late and had to park across the street. I got in a RF&F game. Good times, even being sick as hell. I left directly after that game.

I scored 4 books, desert hills, Palm trees, and some new bridges (3). The hills and trees are finished.

Normally I play 3 to 4 games a day. So sad!

Some pictures from the day

HMGS’ Cold Wars Day 1

COLD WARS 2015 – THE END OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR!

Our theme is The 150 the Anniversary of the end of the American Civil War.
The year – 1865. The place – Richmond, Virginia.
”In the last days of the Civil War, General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia was fighting with its back to Richmond. These battle-weary but determined Confederates were facing overwhelming odds. A section of guns from the Third Company, Washington Artillery of new Orleans, “…the most famous of the Confederate volunteer artillery organizations,” was posted at Fort Gregg, a critical portion of the thin line of defense close to the Appomattox River. If the fort fell, the Union forces could break the Confederate line.
On April 2, 1865, the Union forces attacked Fort Gregg. The 270 defenders had to hold until Lieutenant General James Longstreet’s men could occupy new positions. Assault after assault broke against the walls of the fort like a rising blue tide against a rock. One of the assaults swept over the parapet of the fort. Lieutenant McElroy’s guns of the Third Company, Washington Artillery barred the way. Three-inch Parrot rifled cannon, loaded with canister were aimed at the attacking Federal soldiers at point blank range.
A Union soldier called to Private Lawrence Berry, who had the firing lanyard in his hand, “Don’t fire that gun! Drop the lanyard or we’ll shoot!” Berry yelled back, “Shoot and be dammed!” and fired his cannon into the faces of his assailants. Almost immediately Berry went down with multiple wounds. The tenacious defense of Fort Gregg gained precious time for Confederate forces to solidify their lines. The courage, dedication and self-sacrifice of the Washington Artillery is carried on today by the 141st Field Artillery, Louisiana Army National Guard.”

Little did these brave lads in blue and grey know, but Lee would surrender at Appomattax Court House just a few days later, ending a tragedy that saw 600,000 Americans on both sides die for causes they truly believed righteours and just. Yet these soldiers did not die in vain, but instead left a legacy of courage and dedication the heights of which have seldom been seen since. Are you willing to try and match their fortitude? Grab somehard tack or johnny cake, swish down one final slug of good Tennessee sippin’ whiskey and sling your rifle for the long march to Lancaster, PA and the HMGS Cold Wars Convention now scheduled for 5 – 8 March 2015. Some of toughest commanders in blue and grey are in the front ranks ready to lead. Do you have the courage to follow?
My account Day 1

Snow storms are becoming the normal for Cold Wars. This people were ready. There were 50 rooms sold a day early.

Of course the Lancaster Host was not ready. Understaffed and unprepared. The large game room was colder inside than it was out side. It was so cold inside, people were playing games in there winter coats. Some one bought a space heater.

I did get in a AdeptiCon primer game. Kal was nice enough to test me.

Back from Argentina

Finally back. Why I came back I don’t know. Current excuse is I had to get the dog. Now the big question is how soon can I go back?

I was able to bang out 4 books while there. In between the football, hunting, fishing, running, dancing, and general chica chasing. All the while drinking rivers of beer every night and eating asado almost every night. Ha jokers, I still lost 6 pounds!

Back to work blows! It took a week just to get sorted enough to try and paint something. Now it is high time I jump back in the saddle and crank some minis out. WEs this week.
