Sudan project XII "Sudanese Tribesmen"

The 1st block of 60 x 60mm (x3) Tribesmen dudes. These dudes roll under the green Flag.

I was looking at some of the Perry Bros’ stuff. They have original shit! How they got it or where or which kidney they sold to buy it, who knows?
I saw a lot of their Dervish troops (28mms, mine are 20mm) did not have the colored squares all over. So I needed tribesmen and this group became a Perry Bros look a like.

Finally finished a Brit command stand. The flag is questionable. I may have to go back and retouch it.

Xmas ordering

Stop getting shity gifts from loved ones. Well there are not exactly shity. They are things you would never buy for you. Not your style, or your not interested in. Shop for them, for you, and drop ship straight to them. So much easier. No one has to waste time going around looking for stuff.           Besides once you get so old. Any thing you really want is expensive or so dam specialized, the shopper would have to be in the know. It is impossible to get dad anything he is interested in. Only one year did I get a book he did not have. Solely because I bought the book right out from under him!

15 tower, wall and pill box terrain sets. Love these!!!!

A bunch of LP tanks, containers, and jack pumps

Score 8271

My mate was able to grab two boxes of HAT Dervish Warriors while at “Fall In.” 9 bucks each, about avg, dude could have bent me over.

I also ordered a butt ton from Newline Designs.

1 x Mounted Camel Corp Officer (SUD19)  = £1.13
1 x Mahdist Infantry (SUDBP03)  = £32.50
3 x British Casualties (ZW15)  = £4.29
1 x Mahdist Infantry (24MD02)  = £7.13
1 x Naval Brigade Skirmishing (24CO02)  = £7.13
1 x Sudanese Tribesmen (24MD01)  = £7.13
2 x Naval Brigade Gattling Gun and Crew (ZW42)  = £3.30
1 x Naval Brigade Artillery (24CO03)  = £7.13

HAT punches below the belt! bye bye 8271

Thanks for nothing. HAT discontinues 8271 Dervish Warriors. FUCK!

Nah, maybe its not that bad? No it is. I really really liked those minis. Now I will be stuck with Waterloo “AP011.” Waterloo uses a different plastic. HAT’s plastic is softer. The minis lifetime is longer. Waterloo’s plastic is brittle. You will lose spears when you de-sprue them. What more Waterloo’s mold is pretty shity or it is wearing out. There is a large deal of flash and some swords are half there. Plus Waterloo gives you a very poor mule and rider, useless and a waste of space on the frame.
Moving on. The minis are the same size. HAT’s are thicker. Waterloo’s are more skinny. Some side by side action. Look at Waterloo’s frame, so wasteful. They need to get one of GW’s frame guy to fix this
And here is the useless mule and rider dude. You get four flag dude and four mule/riders per box. I have a bag full of them!

Sudan Wip II

More Camel action. Blocking in and doing the harnesses.

Struggles with India units. Just can not finish them. Not super interested in painting these dudes. Any excuse will back burner them.

Next round of dervishes primed. (pre based) The Camel riders getting blocked in. (Two attack bikes, I can not remember to seal)

Skirmishers. In my current reading select, personal accounts, talk about them close and behind every bush/rock/whatever. Based on 60 x 20mm. These dudes were a “HMGS Wally’s basement” buy, unknown who made them.

Sudan project mirages "Camels"

Who has a lack of focus? Started painting camels. Which included unpacking the airbrush, airbrush paint, compressor, cleaning minis and so on. No minis were painted that were already set up.

First problem. What the hell color are camels? I have been around them deployed. Even rode one in Isreal. Then watched my Aunt ride one in Egypt. She wondered why I wasn’t going for the camel ride. Joke was on her! I told her, not the greatest idea. Those bastards are mean smelly fuckers. So I have seen them, touched, been around them. Could not remember there color. So google.

Sweet. They are every color of Tan, Sand, and Brown. I can paint them any way I want. Only making sure their legs are the lightest color.
Air Brush time. My set up. I have a badger bottle brush, but that fucker never ever wants to shoot paint. The Sotar is super fine pattern spray, but it never ever gives me any shit.

I live in a river delta. Humidity is aways high. Plus there is no hobby spray primer available here. Bonus for me! As the air brush prime is way way cheaper.

Minitaire was the only line of paint used. The bottom of the Camels were angle sprayed with Desolated Beach. All minis are HAT.

Next Jaundice was sprayed at about 60 degree down onto the Camels. Mummy was use to pick out the darker areas of the Camels fur.

A very watered down Ancient bone was sprayed top down in two light coats. Finally Ancient bone and Jaundice were mixed and a very light coat applied.
