Sudan project "de-sprue" part II

         This lot contains mostly civilian types for baggage carriers and double duty for FoF and Black Powder games. The farm animals will get a heavy rotation.
         The Modern US Soldiers were a crap shoot. I order the box for the stretcher and UAV team. Never knew two mortars and EOD teams were in the box also. At 9.99 it is a steal. Normally you would get an EOD team for 10 beans.

Imagine packing these boxes? Once de-sprue are is near zero volume. There are 210 minis in those bags.

50 degrees, priming day

         In an effort to jump start the shit ton of painting I have planned for 2017, I have started priming everything I can.

Using home depot spray primer, some wind and a sunny 50 degree day. The airport terrain from last year, Epic HH objectives, Gamescraft, and Wasteland terrain.

The Anglo-Egyptain, Roman transport and Arab camel riders got primed. The Egyptain dudes have multiple command, and Hand to Hand fighters. 28 Unusable dudes (14 per box), 6 were taken as casualty markers and 14 Officers questionable future use. The rest tossed, 19. 
The Arab had 8 bow and arrow dudes, tossed. The roman had 5, tossed.

          “Terrain has been done as have Realm of Battle boards which the buildings can fit onto. These are at the factory already so should be ready to go when the game is released.”

          Building that snap into a Realm of Battle board? What? With 2 Battle boards and a DZC city board, I don’t need another one——– BUT

         Thanks GW!  It has only taken years of hard work, of the entire world wide Epic loving community to unfuck your rule set and fix what you never finished. I mean proof reading, writing in understandable english, updating FAQs, testing and creating missing lists.
          Sadly all of us non professional game designers have managed to do what you have never been able to. Proof, create, test, and update……..ahhhh and listen to the player base.

Today’s magazines

         Are total shit? I think they are directly published for taking a shit. Every article is a white wash.  8 to 10 minutes to read. You want more, deeper, something not written for an 8th grader. For 5 to 12 dollars, give me something. Maybe I am spoiled by Ancient Warfare.

Hallowed ground is total crap. Almost as bad as White Dwarf, buy my shit. Where Hallowed ground is give us money. The article on the 14th had a great title. Then sucked the life out of you with an executive summary of the battle.

Wild West’s editor has to be chopping articles sent in. There is no way what you are reading is half of what the author submitted. Every paragraph seems cut off or bleed out. There is little flow and development of an idea or point. Its hard to read.

2017 Reading list

This year’s reading pile starts off with the family tradition of giving books at Christmas. You only become excepted as part of the family when your Christmas is full of books.

          With a history Professor as a father, I am very lucky to get books focused and relevant to my current time period of interest. I do end up rereading the same primary accounts, as I usually read about one specific period in history for 1-2 years.
         A small lot of reading material. Of course being limited by the amount of weight per bag flying back to Argentina. Hopefully a restock will occur after AdeptiCon.

          This year’s hull lines up with my current painting project the Sudan and Colonial wars.

Diving for any army

        With AdeptiCon is far away, but this was my only chance to access storage. It was more of a climb, low crawl and dive. The whole time praying not to lose my car keys or cell phone.

        Now one may ask, Why did you not place your armies near the front? I found a bunch of dudes for the Sudan project. I did find some 60x60mm bases!!!

        Zero HH World Eaters were found. I only found Nids and Tau. I know zero about Nids. At least I know what each Tau unit is and have played them twice. That is where my experience ends.

         I will start studying the list and reading the boards. Then check out some battle reports. Just maybe I can learn how to play them. There will be no time for shake out games before I return.

2017 Projects & Goals

          Finish the Sudan project.      The battle to paint these bastards spills into yet another year. I think it initially started back in 2012. There was no real plan then. Just dudes being painted. I had truly hoped to finish painting both sides in 2015. Being lazy, selling a house, and being stupid (air brush parts) caused the general failure. This year I have some dudes pretty much in the bag and then a big pile of plastic and metal to bang out. 600 plus, Game on!

         Finished the 20mm Moderns.      Everything I own for modern dudes is in Argentina NOW. I will need a large supply of US nickel coins. They are the individual’s bases. The only way this does not happen is I back burner it.

         Add to both the 6mm NetEA Imperial Fists and HH World Eaters armies.     Some new fancy China Forge goodies for Xmas and storage dive for the HH WEs. Failure will occur on the WEs if they are totally buried in storage.
     ****The bare metal dudes, tanks, and resin bases are totally buried in storage. I could only access the finished detachments****

         Painted the 6mm Desert terrain from Xmas for AdeptiCon and Argentina.     Hopefully by March2017 it is complete and sealed!

         Start the 15mm ACW project.      Everything I own for ACW is in Argentina NOW. Including the bases. The only way this does not happen is I back burner it.

        Attend both Cold Wars and AdeptiCon.      This one is pretty much in the bag. I have my flights and rooms booked. Transportation for Cold Wars is secure, AdeptiCon is up in the air. Only problem will be accessing storage during the Xmas visit to dig out an army. My Imperial Fists or Tau (maybe bugs?) Most importantly no football injuries. Another MCL and I’ll be wheelchair drunk!

        Gaming       Try to build an Epic player base in Argentina and host 6 games. (some maybe non Epic)

         Painting      Only painted 233 last year. What the shit? And I am retired? Since I started counting, 275 was the most painted in one year. I want to double that amount this year! 550 is the goal.

         Goals ranked on the actuality of accomplishment. I love painting terrain. Desert terrain could derail the 20mm colonial project. The wargaming CONs are in the bag. The 15mm ACW has and is alway a pipe dream.
