AdeptiCon day 5 Epic tourney

The day’s turn out was lower than expected. One player banged out sick and Pat had to return home mid day. The dude (yet another dude not playing) supplying 90% of the terrain had to go home mid day also.
There were 5 of us playing. One guy sitting each of the two rounds. Only two rounds because the terrain left. I got both rounds in,  2 – 0. First game against Orks 2-1 and the second game against a new player 4-0, yeah yeah seal clubbing. I played nice. We talked about his moves and where to apply pain and to game the objectives.
I did not write a single thing down. Both opponents adjusted there lists prior to the game. So the limited number of pictures I can remember to take are IT.

First table against Orks.

 His list

My list stayed the same for the whole Con.

 Game two against IG

My deployment
Right Flank action
Left flank action

In the end the tourney was never really a tourney. A lot of epic got played, good visibility, and no fewer than 4 demo games went off.

For my Tau 4-3 for the weekend
Red Corsairs 4-0 loss
Space Marines 4-0 win
Space Marines 3-0 win
Knights 2-0 loss
Nids 5-4 loss special scenario
Orks 2-1 win
IG 3-0 win

AdeptiCon Day Four

Day Four. NetEA scenarios
1) Escalating Engagement
2) Encounter
3)Attack & Defend

Escalating Engagement

We did not end up playing the Scenario. My opponent want to play the tourney scenario straight out of the book.
His list;
2 detachment of knights
1 detachment of lancers
1 detachment of Cast-something or other with a baron
2 detachments of rough riders
2 squadrons of Tbolts
My list:

I got my ass stomped. He played a perfect game. I had some dice troubles and not the best objective placement.
We failed to follow the terrain rules. His knights waked through and over buildings.

Encounter

I played Jon’s Nids. We had a super chess match that came down to the wire. Jon took the win 5-4. I forgot and never paid any attention to which number I place under which objective. I also fail to get the broadsides into action.

Attack/Defend

The last game I rode the bench.

AdeptiCon Day 2

Day Two, because I flew all of day one being the cheap bastard I am.

Note; schedule a taxi next time. An airport taix was 135 to get to the hotel!

Registration or check in was super smooth. It took me less than 5 minutes. The amount of swag each pre-register is given is retarded. Any one flying can not hope to take it all with them. I gave mine away.

30K HH armies. Well the only two I care about.

I got two games of Epic in. First game was against Dave and the Red Corsairs. Terrible first turn. My first 4 activations failed initiative rolls. Dave crushed the poorly motivated Tau 4 – 0.

The second game was a primer for Patrick. He has not played Epic in 5+ years. It was basically a demo game and we sorted out his list.

Then the vender hall. I bought a boat load of terrain!

On to AdeptiCon

I am arriving late today. It is part of the deal when flying on points. You kind of, have to, take the best deal you can get. This puts you on the flights no one wants. Which gets me in at 20:21 to Midway.

Zero complaints with Delta flying stateside. The seats have more leg room than American or United. International is a different story, go United. (especially if your military or Vet.) They are sweet enough to you. I get free bags and Club passes.

The Tau are coming out again for AdeptiCon. All 3 games on Saturday and for the Tourney Sunday. Maybe a primer game Thursday. They were the only option for Cold Wars. As the Tau were the only army I could easily get at in storage. The rest are buried.
But now I have the Eldar army I bought. I know jack all nothing about Eldar. Whoever would play me would experience a slow painful game.

Tau reinforcements.

There had always been holes in the army. I used one Cuda to represent two. Step one to filling it out. They will not be ready for AdeptiCon. Also I failed to order enough Recon units to fill out my AdeptiCon list. ( Dave is holding a order made long ago. No packages ever get thru to Argentina. So long ago I don’t remember what is in it.) I sent a request to Dave to change my submitted list.

And I am still repairing and packing the Eldar army for storage.

Cold Wars "purchases"

Walley’s basement Fields and resin. Four packs of irrigation ditches for FoF.

Well I bought more bases and palm trees. Shit ton of palms

Sudan project markers. water cart, supply wagon, British & Dervish dead, and gators, Egyptian dudes

Corn rows for FoF. Most importantly “Sand and Gravel Fixer.” That shit is magical.

10 bucks! Now I am thinking about 10mm ancients after the Sudan. Pushing 15mm ACW off yet again.

Cold Wars day 2

HMGS’ Cold Wars Saturday

         The MechaniCon NetEA Tourney

I will be going with the list a primed in January. The idea is to sit back and shoot turn one. The goal to maintain activation superiority by clipping the other dudes small detachments. Once activation superiority is established, abuse coordinated fire knocking down a harder target.

Game One    2 – 0     TSNP & DTF

I had Shawn and his knight list. This was a game I thought I would lose. I normally kill zero knights. It is an army that I am useless against. Today was a different.
We both forgot to place our garrisons. I failed to use crossfire in every opportunity.

Shawn’s list

Game Three
This time I am up against Kal. The knights are the toughest. Yet Kal is the best Tactical General. No Garrisons. At some point this turned into slug fest, back a mole. Which left us to the dice gods in the end. Turn Three’s initiative roll sealed either of our fates.

Cold Wars day 1

HMGS’ Cold Wars Friday

The place was empty. They complain about attendance. Well move locations and move the dam thing to May. People HATE the Host. People have been burned by winter storms too many times for Cold Wars. So just keep doing the exact same thing and expect a different results!!!!!!

My first game was F127 ACW Regimental Fire and Fury 15May1864 Resaca, Ga. I was running the CSA center. I love the RF&F rules. Always a good time. The game master Kaleb has hosted more than one game of the years for me. He is super knowledgeable and ensures you understand the objectives.

Sadly this game was called, when the Lowell running the largest Union section “gave up.” We started at 9:30,  he gave in before 11:20. The game was scheduled to end at 13:00. It is a CON game. That is an asshole move.

This was his position when he “gave in!” Lots of fresh units, supported units, no one is out of position. That cock ruined a game he felt his win was questionable.

You may think I am a cock for calling him out. If your a guy that gets one game per day and this was the one you got. What the Fuck?

Other games this day.

 Colonial War action!!!!

My last game was F391 Battle of Kandahar 1880. This one was canceled 1.5 hours prior to the start. Luck me, a mate found me and said your game is canned. I was then lucky enough to get in on Roy Jones’ F213 The sand dunes of Zwartfontein. Great game! If you ever get a chance to meet Roy, do it.

The vendor hall is packed. Looks like an entire new row of tables was added.
